The second edition of the Wale Olomu Memorial Awards (WOMA) celebrated creativity, excellence, and lifetime contributions to the entertainment industry on Saturday, 21 December, 2024. Hosted live on The Vintage Talk Show on Top Radio FM 90.9 by veteran journalists Femi Akintunde-Johnson and Tokunbo Ojekunle, the event honoured legendary figures and trailblazers in the Nigerian entertainment landscape.
Among the distinguished honorees was Gloria Rhodes, daughter of the late music icon Steve Rhodes, who was celebrated for her impactful work as an educationist, musicologist, and child advocate. Dr. Bayo Adepetun received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional contributions to education, music legacy, and sound production.
Other notable recipients who received Special Recognition Awards included: Olisa Adibua, veteran broadcaster, for his innovation in entertainment media; Femi Aderibigbe (KWAME), for his role as a visionary in media and entertainment inspiration; Edi Lawani, for outstanding contributions to life event innovation; and Tunde Kolawole, a renowned senior entertainment journalist, for excellence in entertainment reporting.
The awardees expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the organisers for recognizing their lifetime contributions to the industry and for honouring the memory of the late Wale Olomu, a pioneer in entertainment journalism.
WOMA continues to uphold its mission of celebrating the giants of the industry and inspiring the next generation of creatives and innovators.
