“All Have Sinned: A Deep Dive Into Nigeria’s Political Ruling Class” By Olawale Olaleye

For this once, let’s assume, without conceding that all our leaders are the same. No saints among them. Let’s assume, therefore, that they are all rogues and are only in politics for personal enrichment.

Let’s assume that all the political parties are the same without any distinguishing ideology. Let’s assume that there’s no patriot among them all, and it’s all about lining their pockets and enriching their families and cronies.

Let’s assume that, characteristically, Nigeria’s economy thrives on corruption but the distributory type. Let’s assume that no one party or leader can actually fix Nigeria’s obvious and existential challenges. So, we’d keep papering the lies.

However, from 1999 to date, going by these assumptions, the only truly “progressive” party might just be the PDP. This party steals and ensures its loot trickles down, and not just to its members.

But since the self-styled progressives took over the mantle of leadership, and in spite of the facade of their glamour and ideas about an egalitarian society, even the unborn child now understands the real meaning of SUFFERING.

They’ve refused to adjust their lifestyle in the midst of obvious lack. They’ve refused to plug stealing even if for contingency sake. Whatever the state of the nation, their opulent living must be safeguarded at collective expense.

Not only are they lacking in integrity and credibility, but their stock in trade is deception without conscience. They’re ostentatious and innately wasteful.

Whatever their defenders and supporters say now does not matter or change anything. After all, many of those who shamefully come out to condemn Muhammadu Buhari today had once said he was the best thing after jollof rice.

Why should their opinion matter now? They will come after Bola Tinubu leaves office to call him even worse names. It’s the same cycle. It’s about survival, not the country.

The difference between the ruling party and the PDP can, therefore, be located in thieves with empathy and those without.

But all have sinned!
