Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for reopening the investigation into the death of Erasmus Emhenya who was allegedly tortured to death in police custody last April.
In a letter to the IGP, Adeyanju praised the move as a commitment to transparency and justice. He highlighted the seriousness of the allegations and the need for an impartial investigation, especially in light of “prejudiced statements” made by the Force Public Relations Officer.
Adeyanju urged the IGP to ensure a thorough and uncompromised investigation to restore public confidence and ensure justice prevails. He called for the investigation to be conducted with utmost integrity and transparency, and for the police to remain impartial and unbiased throughout the process.
