Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has challenged the Osun State Government to publish the names of those it claimed to have been compensated with over N600 million during its demotion exercise.
Chairman of the Party in Osun State, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa in a statement said it beats his imagination that a responsible government could come out of the blues and cook up stories that it has spent that huge amount while it has not done anything to compensate those whose properties were being destroyed all in the name of beautification.
The PDP Chairman, stated that in the world over, the usual practice is for government or any establishment for that matter to have a round table talk with those people whose properties will be affected before any demolition is carried out.
According to the release, vehicle spare parts sellers who lost their shops in Ajegunle have relocated to other States since the Government did not provide alternative area for them to transact their business.
While admitting that government is planning to compensate landlords of structures demolish as a result of the advise by the State universal basic education board that all Primary Schools must have playing grounds, Olaoluwa said government has failed to accommodate everybody affected by the exercise thereby reducing them to “walking corpses”.
PDP, according to its boss will not relent in offering constructive criticism whenever the Action Congress of Nigeria led government in Osun State fails in its responsibility of giving responsible and responsive leadership in the state.
The release condemned the action of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola for spending over fifty million Naira on fire-works and lavishing so-much to invite a Musician to celebrate New Year eve while the state civil servants have not been paid their salaries
