Hon Osoba Abandons Legislative Duties to fight Dstv

Nigeria is in a state of crisis, anarchy and confusion at the moment, and is confronted with many issues. However salient of all the different issues we are experiencing as a country is the Islamic Terrorist group Boko-Haram, that has claimed many innocent lives  from their recent, consistent bombings. From all indication this terrorists will not relent until they are forcefully stopped. How and when this will happen is more or less a rhetoric question as it is a notorious fact that our president and the people he surrounds himself with are clueless as to what to do. Sadly this is just one of the many issues Nigeria is faced with today. In the light of all this, I thought to share with you the tweet of one of our Lawmakers Honourable Olumide Osoba’s tonight, and it reads:

@Olumide_Osoba: Millions pay N10,000 monthly and when its starts raining their DSTV subscription is no longer valid. What a joke multichoice is.

@Olumide_Osoba: People should come together under one lawyer and sue DSTV for depriving them of watching the England Vs Italy extra time in Nigeria. Sham

Honourable  Olumide Osoba is the son of former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba. The 35 year old law maker has represented Abeokuta North in the National Assembly since he  was elected in  May 2011.

Truth be told, he speaks the mind of many as regards how Nigerians are being exploited by Multichoice. However should this be the concern of a lawmaker at a time when the country is in  disarray so much so that he puts it on a social networking site where everyone around the world can view his folly? Does this tweet reflect a lawmaker who is truly concerned for the wellbeing of Nigerians and is burdened by recent mishaps in the country of late? The answers to these questions, most will agree are in the Negative.

Naija Hottestgist is of the opinion that at a time like this lawmakers should concern themselves with more issues of National importance and  leave frivoities aside. On the other hand, Hon. Olumide might have been guided by the popular saying “follow your leader”, as it is no longer news that our N01 citizen left the country with  several escorts to attend a summit in Brazil when there are more pressing issues to attend to.

This is just our view on this issue and we thought to share.  We are still in a democratic regime where freedom of speech is permitted by the constitution right? Just checking.

  1. How is this news? So, all he shud tweet about is Boko Haram? Is he d Chief Security officer of the land? This report is malicious and pedetrian.

  2. Rose!Shut up,Does The foolish Hon not collect Millions to make Law to better his people,How many BIlls has he sponspored and what Govt projects has he been able to lobby,All he does is collect the money and drop a little Egunje left and right for Godfathers,The guy should brace up and let young people feel a different,if I can ask How many people in his consituents have Dstv

  3. Rose u got it wrong o,Hon Osoba goofed big time,Dele u dont need to ask a lady to shut up jo to prove your point,Hon Osoba does not care about his people so far his Dstv works

  4. @dele. Question 1- Is Multichoice DSTV exploiting Nigerians or not? Question 2- does DSTV go off in South Africa when it rains? Question 3- by paying N10,000 montly double what south African dstv subscribers pay not mean Nigerian subscribers should get better service? At the end of the day twitter is used as a medium to express what you are going through or what is affecting people at the moment they tweet which is what Hon osoba did at that moment. Learn to be objective.

    • Should a “busy” lawmaker with so much to do be tweeting about DSTV services?
Lots of busy people make out time to indulge in their favorite pass time be it football, golf, squash, tennis, polo etc…but I have not seen or heard of any busy man who posted on Facebook or Twitter or on blackberry messenger a trivial issue on his priority list.
The House has been pushing for NCC to come down heavy on poor services rendered by Telecom providers. He should rather take his DSTV grievance to the House than telling us over Tweeter to look for a lawyer and sue DSTV.
Suppose we all sue DSTV, in whose account does the money to go? I can’t imagine a lawmaker talking like this!

  5. If someone pays for a service and you did not get effective delivery, you have the right to talk. Which the honourable has done as a citizen of Nigeria and as a subscriber. Whether he is a member or not isn’t the issue. The writer is biased and i can bet it that he or she is one of the Lazarus that eats from Multichoice table. I live in South Africa and i can stop pray for Nigerians when it comes to service delivering. If Boko haram is fighting, we can still address those who offer poor services to Nigerians as one of them. Please sir, speak for us. Somebody in multchoice heard you and was angry.

Hon. Olumide Osoba is representing my federal constituency and the young guy is performing honorably well. We have no complaints about how he performs his legislative duties and i think he has right to express his views on any other issues apart from boko haram.

  6. I take it that some morons expect that because a person is serving his nation therefore 24hours of the day he should be making laws. My assumption is that if you work you have your lunch time and you can do whatever you want with it. Even students have break time. If the law maker wants to tweet, BB, make a phone or watch a movie or even dance at his spare time does not mean that he is not working. What is wrong with someone complaining about bad service? The retard that commented above about Egunje & godfathers clearly does not know the honourable in question and he was even brainless enough to be asking someone to shut up
