Aiyedatiwa stated this on TVC news at 10 on Friday night.
The programme was monitored by our correspondent in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Aiyedatiwa who was asked on the news programme about his relationship with Akeredolu, having survived impeachment attempts from lawmakers in 2023, noted that he never had issues with the late Governor, but that those interested in succeeding him when they knew he was very sick, started the political intrigues.
“Definitely, I will be running because I am already a sitting Governor… Nobody want to be Governor for one year, common… Give me what the constitution knows me to do. At least, let me have a chance of running for one more term, as it were,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The Governor was sworn-in in December 27, 2023, after the death of Akeredolu on December 26, 2023.
The current tenure of Aiyedatiwa with Akeredolu would end in February, 2025.
Political parties are expected to conduct their primaries in April, 2024, while the election is billed for November, 2024.
When asked about about his relationship with the leaders of the APC, after five federal lawmakers petitioned President Bola Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa noted that most of the lawmakers have vested interest in the 2024 election in the State.
