— Says LASG remains passionate about bringing relief to vulnerable Lagosians
In response to the ongoing challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidy and its socio-economic impact, the Lagos State Government, through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE), has distributed 2,000 Food Boxes to residents to provide the much-needed support and relief to vulnerable households in Lagos State.
The event which was held today at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Secretariat Ikeja, was flagged off by the Special Adviser, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE), Dr. Tajudeen Afolabi.
Dr. Afolabi averred that the Food Box which contains essential food items such as 10kg Rice, 5kg Beans, and 5kg Garri, is part of the various measures put in place by the Lagos State Government to alleviate the burden faced by citizens, especially, the low-income earners, the elderly and persons living with disabilities.
He reiterated that the Lagos State Government remains passionate about bringing relief to vulnerable Lagosians, hence a comprehensive strategy was devised to identify and reach out to individuals and communities requiring assistance during these challenging times.
He added that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Administration through careful coordination and collaboration with various stakeholders, will continually work tirelessly to ensure that the palliative food packages reached as many households as possible in the shortest possible time.
The Special Adviser further said that the palliatives distribution which was done with the presentation of Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) cards will cut across the five (5) administrative divisions of the Lagos State namely Ikorodu, Ikeja, Epe, Badagry and Lagos Island.
Speaking in a similar vein, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE) Engr. Abiola Kosegebe revealed that the Food Boxes supplied by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture are being distributed across various Lagos State MDAs, noting that the distribution will be done periodically.
She further revealed that the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement is dedicated to promoting civic awareness and participation. The Office, she added, has developed the Citizens Gate 2.0 Platform which serves as a one-stop shop for citizens to make enquiries, complaints, suggestions and gain direct access to the Lagos State Government and its activities.
The Permanent Secretary also informed the beneficiaries that the Office also provides financial assistance to indigent Lagosians.
