Okewale Sonaiya thanks Nigerian Women & hopes for 35% female ministers

The 2023 induction by the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) in Abuja on Tuesday 25 July honoured and celebrated Women Achievers as role models who have broken the glass ceiling in their various professions. While unveiling the plaque, Okewale Sonaiya thanked the FGN through the MBNCWD for recognising the work of Women Radio and on behalf of her team promised to continue to use the radio platform to amplify the voices of Nigerian women. She hopes the anticipated ministerial list will include a minimum of 35% women.

Okewale was honoured for establishing the first and only radio station for Women in Nigeria and the only commercial radio for women in West Africa.

The Hall of Fame was set up to pay tributes to Nigerian Women for their efforts and contributions to national development. Other inductees are Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, Senator Betty Apiafi, Rt. Honourable Nkeiruka Onyejocha and Honourable Abike Dabira.
