Oyo Returns Infested, Expired Palliatives Rice To Customs

There was drama at the premises of the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Command in Ibadan as officials of the Oyo state government were denied entry into the premises to deliver the spoilt 1,800 bags of COVID-19 palliative rice rejected by the state government.

The state officials led by the commissioner for agriculture, Hon Ojemuyiwa Ojekunle, today, led three trucks to the Oyo/Osun headquarters of the NCS with truckloads of the rejected bags of rice.

Speaking with journalists, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Ojemuyiwa said the state government had written to the agency to intimate it of plans to return the unhealthy rice declared as unfit for consumption but was surprised that men of the NCS bluntly barred them from returning the rejected federal government palliative

Hon Ojemuyiwa, however, stressed that the motive was not with any iota of mischief but an attempt to perhaps get better quality fit for consumption of the people

Similarly, he hinted that the state government’s officials would seek further directives from the state government to determine the next line of action.

In a related development, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun command, who declined official comment, insisted that the command had not receive any directive to receive the return rice.
