…commends the State Government for proactively taken measures to combat the spread of the deadly virus.
The Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC), which is the Statutory Conglomeration of all the Registered Political Parties, the Ekiti State Chapter, on Monday commended the Ekiti State government for proactively taken measures to combat the spread of Coronavirus in the state, such as declaration of curfew, shutting down of borders, issuing stay at home orders, locking down of non-essential markets and other places of mass gatherings.
However, in a statement personally signed by the Ekiti State IPAC Chairman, Ifedayo Iyaniwura, and made available to the pressmen in Ado Ekiti, the State Capital stated that, “we must accept the fact that much of Ekiti people, in a large percentage do not have the financial capacity to withstand long periods of self-isolation and even the lockdown.”
“It is, therefore, imperative for the State Government to provide palliatives to the People of the State without discrimination. This according to the Ekiti State Chapter of IPAC, will enable the people of the State to survive, even as they abide by these necessary measures put in place for their own safety, being the duty of the Government to protect the lives and properties of its citizenry.”
While applauding the Ekiti State Government for the prompt payment of the month of March salary to the Ekiti work-forces, it is quite essential, according to the Statement signed by the Chairman of the IPAC, Ifedayo Iyaniwura, for the Government to note, out of the numbers of Ekiti people residing in the State, the Civil Servants are just 20% of the State’s population. Hence, the demand for the remaining 80% of Ekiti people residing in the State to be provided a palliatives, through the same channel and avenue the Government uses to reach out, when there is an exigency for them to be mobilized for the advantage of the Government at every point in time of need.
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi had on Sunday ordered a dusk-to-dawn curfew, and directed all the Ekiti residents to stay home. An order which Ekiti State Chapter of IPAC claims to be mandatory, de rigueur, and irremissible.
However, the IPAC urges the Ekiti citizens to utilize the period of the 14days lockdown in the state to report any suspected cases of coronavirus infection to the NCDC.
