..calls it road mismanagement impairing emergency management

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, in fulfilling his electoral campaign promises on roads rehabilitations and constructions to create alternative routes for motorists and other road users, the Mayor is not taking it easy with mechanics using existing and new roads for their workshop, indiscriminate parking and abandoned vehicles in Somolu. The Mayor warned that abandoned vehicles are turning to hideout for criminals and their weapons.

The Mayor, while inspecting some road in the area, made it known to press men that his government will go though on vehicle mechanics who had converted roads to their workshop. “The engine oil and other lubricants they use usually shorten life of the constructed roads, they also make our roads to be narrow for road users and making it difficult for emergency managers to help our community”, the Mayor said.

The Helmsman of Somolu Local Government said “T” in Project T.H.E.M.E.S. of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu means Traffic Management and Transportion which should not be treated with levity by any responsible government. He has ordered men of Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) attached to Somolu Local Government to be more active at traffic prone junctions in Somolu to easy free flow of vehicular movement and give prompt report of road mismanagement activities.

While inspecting the ongoing road and drainage system constructions on Obiwunmi, Ogunnaike, Babayemi and Bashua roads, the Mayor said construction of Ajose, Okujobi, Olasode and Efon Alaye streets will commence soon as the roads were not touches for decades.

However, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu urged the residence of Somolu to be health, safety and security conscious as healthy life starts with personal hygiene while safety is very importance to avoid domestic, industrial and road accidents. About security, the Mayor worked residents to avoid been vulnerable to criminals and inform the security operatives if criminal activity is suspected, observed or experienced.
