21-year-old Daibo Toju Davies complained of stomach upset moments before leaping off the edge of the 3rd Mainland bridge and into the lagoon on Saturday.
An24.net earlier reported that a man jumped into the Lagoon.
Updates from the Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu are that Davies who resides at No. 17, Sosanya street, Gbagada, Soluyi, Lagos, booked a ride with ride-hailing service, Uber, and requested the driver to park on the bridge as he complained of stomach upset.
Obliging, the driver stopped to allow Davies relieve himself.
Davies then alighted and leapt off the edge of the bridge and into the lagoon.
Officials of the Lagos Fire Service, Marine Rescue team, LASWA, LASTMA and Marine Police are at the scene.
His personal belongings such as his bags and affidavit confirming his date of birth were recovered from the vehicle.
