The Online Bloggers Association of Nigeria has released the second poll ahead of the Governorship Election scheduled for October 20th,The 1st poll for the month of July saw Gov Mimiko leading with as much as 85percent of the votes with Dr Oke of the People Democratic Party coming second and Barrister Akeredolucoming a distand 3rd, The Association Made up of Online Bloggers on Tuesday, made public the result of its August opinion poll for the election with the Labour Party candidate, Dr Segun Mimiko Maintaining his lead as the most preferred candidate of majority of the electorates/respondents whose opinions were sampled.
Head Research of the Association, Mr Malik Ibitoye, said in statement announcing the outcome of the exercise, that for the purpose of the opinion poll, 19,800 questionnaires were randomly administered to respondents who had attained the 18-year voting age and above in the three Senatorial districts.
According to him, “Only 15,400 out of the 19,800 questionnaires were processed at the end of the two-week polling exercise which ended on Wednesday, last week, as the respondents provided all the measurable answers that were germane to the analysis of the data supplied.
“We were able to process 6,600 questionnaires in Ondo North; 5,980 questionnaires in Ondo Centraland 4,820 questionnaires in Ondo South and the choices were among the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Barr. Ladi Akeredolu; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olusola Oke and Labour candidate, Dr Mimiko
“The analysis of the responses as to whom the respondents would likely vote for on Saturday Oct 20 showed that the candidate of the Labour, Dr Mimiko, was the most preferred in All th 3 Senatorial Districts with as Much as 83.2percent of the respondents preferring him.
ibitoye stated that “in Ondo North, out of the 6,600 respondents, 6,000 respondents sampled indicated preference for the Labour candidate, 440 respondents representing indicated preference for the Action Congress while 220respondents indicated preference for the people Democratic candidate.
out of the 5,980 respondents Labour Candidate was preferred by 5,180 , 396 respondents indicated their preference for the ACN candidate while 416 respondents indicated preference for the PDP candidate. “In Ondo South where 4,800 respondents were sampled, 3,467 indicated their preference for the Labour candidate while 300 respondents indicated preference for the PDP candidate. 33 respondents indicated preference for the ACN candidate.”
He said that the analysis of the responses, especially where they were asked the reason(s) for their preferences, showed that performance and fear of the unknown played vital factor in the decision of the voters. According to Malik the final analysis showed that Labour had 83.2percent of the Voters while Action congress had 7percent and People Democratic party had 9.8percent,He disclosed that before the Election 2 more polls will be conducted by the Group for September and the Last one a week to the elections
