River Government Takes Over Agba Jalingo’s Case

The Cross River State government, on Friday took over the the prosecution of detained journalist, Agba Jalingo.

Jalingo, who is the publisher of the online news portal, CrossRiverWatch, was arrested on August 22, 2019 and has spent 135 days so far in custody.

The journalist is facing trial in a Federal High court for alleged terrorism and cybercrime, following his arrest in August last year.

The state’s attorney general, Tanko Ashang informed Justice Simon Amobeda who presides over Court 2 of the Calabar division of the Federal High Court that a letter to that effect had been filed and is in the records of the court.

Jalingo will be docked before Justice Shuaibu by the next court date.
