HAVING been missing since Saturday, the search by a family in Ibadan led to discovery of their relation hanging on a tree Monday morning.
It was wailing galore and gnashing of teeth at Odo-Ona area of Ibadan ,Oyo state capital, as the lifeless body of Mrs Juliana Oluwafemi, a widow, was found hanging on a tree at Odo-Ona Bridge.
To family members, friends and co-tenants of the deceased, aged 55, what could have led to the type of death remained a mystery.
According to a friend of the deceased, who however begged not to be named, “My friend did not owe; she was not indebted to anybody. She called me last week Thursday that we need to see and discuss and I told her that she was free to visit me either at home or shop at her leisure. I did not hear from her until Saturday when I learned she was missing.
“Since then, we have been looking for her until we found her body here this morning. Like I said, she was not indebted to anybody. What happened to her is not ordinary. Somebody somewhere must be responsible for her death, and I know the person would definitely reap what he or she has sown in due course”.
According to a sister of the deceased, who also refused to mention her name, while sobbing profusely, it was last Wednesday that she saw her sister last. Said she, “She came to me on that day and I told her that I was going to Lagos. If I knew, I would have taken her to Lagos and possibly kept her in my house. See what has happened to me now!”.
we gathered that the late madam Olawafemi left her residence at Apata Bembo area on Friday to Apata Odo-Ona where her son resided and the son later in the night went for vigil at a church. On the following day, he discovered that his mother had left home unannounced.
When all efforts to locate her proved abortive, the family contacted the Apata Divisional Police station and later declared the woman missing on NTA station in Ibadan on Saturday.
The discovery of the dead body was made by a mechanic who went to toilet in the bush yesterday morning and saw the body of the late widow hanged with the head gear of the lace material she wore to the place.
It was the mechanic that later contacted the Vicar of St. Paul Anglican Church located in the area and later the Police were invited to come and remove the dangling body of the deceased to a mortuary
