Tackling Dirty Oyo from the source Gov makinde visits Refuse dumps sites

One of the major challenges with refuse disposal in Ibadan is that the waste contractors were not servicing the dumpsites and access roads to the dumpsites are bad. This evening, we visited Awotan dumpsite for an on-the-spot assessment, and we were briefed about the challenges there.

I assured the contractors at the dumpsite that we will address the challenges outlined to us. We recognise the environmental impact on our people, especially with the potable water facilities within about 2 Kilometres radius of the dumpsite.

The road from Apete to the dumpsite, which is about 4 kilometres, will be promptly fixed by Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency. The same road leads to Akufo farm settlement which is in our 2020 Budget to be transformed into a farm estate. Work at Akufo farm estate will commence in January 2020.

I solicited the cooperation of everyone in that area, assuring them there will be job opportunities as a result of the work that will soon commence there. I implored them to be accommodative to the different people from all over the world that will converge to work in their area.
