The Kwara State Government has charged the Corps Members who were posted to their various places of primary assignment today to continue utilising all the tenets of hard work, discipline, commitment, and loyalty imbibed during the orientation course.
The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, gave the charge during the Official Closing Ceremony and End of the Orientation Parade for 2019 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1)
Orientation Course, held today at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Edu LGA of the State.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Saba Jibril, was also invited to the podium by the Chairman, NYSC Kwara State Governing Board, who is also the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji AbdulQuadir Shuaib Akanbi.
Mallam AbdulRazaq notified the Corps Members that all employers throughout the State and the Country at large have been adequately sensitised to fully integrate Corps Members into their various duty posts and make them as comfortable as possible.
He described the National Youth Service Corps as a veritable tool for mobilising Nigrian youths for the enormous task of nation-building, adding that its objectives are as relevant today as they were in those days.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who urged the Corps Members to use the advantage of their service year to prepare themselves towards self-development in order to eventually become employers of labour, expressed delight over the enthusiasm and full participation of the Corps Members in all camp activities, most especially in the lectures and training on Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), the programme which he said might spurn them to self-employment after service.
While congratulating the Corps Members for the successful completion of the orientation course, the Governor pledged to be looking forward to receiving good reports about their exploits while on national service.
Also speaking on the occasion, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Esther Tosin Ikupolati, educated the Corps Members that the orientation is a platform specially designed to inculcate the spirit of patriotism, selflessness, loyalty, team work and hard work into the Corps Members, emphasising that all these will, in turn, prepare them for life during the service year and the post service period.
She admitted that the Corps Members are patriotic, disciplined, unique, mature and well-behaved throughout the orientation exercise.
Mrs. Ikupolati thanked the present Administration in the State for its full support and assistance to the NYSC Scheme since its inception which she said is less than six months.
She highlighted the various ways the AbdulRazaq-led Government has intervened to transform the camp from its hitherto decrepit state to an elegant look, particularly mentioning the comprehensive renovation and expansion of three male hostels, which she said are already in use.
The State Coordinator then disclosed that the visit of the NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Shuaib, to Kwara State during the orientation exercise was a gesture to show appreciation to His Excellency.
