The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN, has restated that the Federal Government, through the Ministry, was focusing on the completion of ongoing road projects in the country as recommended by President Muhammadu Buhari in his Budget Speech at the National Assembly.
Fashola, who was reacting to a lead story in The Nation of Monday, November 11, 2019, attributed to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport, Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, quoting a figure of 3,300 as the number of road projects being presented for “next year’s budget”, noted that on the basis of the President’s mandate, the Ministry of Works and Housing recently presented a total of 504 road projects under contract to the Joint Committee of the National Assembly.
In a Press Release signed by his Special Adviser on Communications, Mr. Hakeem Bello, the Minister said it was, therefore, not correct to attribute a figure of 3,300 road projects as being presented for “next year’s budget” and reported as lead story in The Nation of Monday, November 11.
The Minister said the clarification had become expedient in order to set the records straight especially in the face of so many unfounded statements being attributed to him. He assured Nigerians that the government was committed to delivering good road network across the country and would remain focused on this.
