• Gov says party integral to his devt plans
Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen on Tuesday commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what they called his giant strides in key areas that directly touched the lives of the people.
“We are very proud of Your Excellency’s performance in the past 100 days. You have touched very critical sectors of the state. People now have water, roads are being fixed and your style of governance is such that we hadn’t seen for a long time in Kwara,” Adamu Abubakar, leader of the chairmen, said at the meeting they held with AbdulRazaq.
Fourteen chairmen attended the parley, with the remaining two having excused themselves because of previously slated engagements.
Abubakar said they had come to convey their appreciation of the Governor’s performance which he said had made them proud in their various communities and local government areas, adding that the party is solidly behind him.
“We are not unmindful of insinuations in some quarters that the party is not with you. This is not true. The entire leadership of the party, including all of us at the local government areas, are 100 percent loyal to your leadership as Governor and leader of our party,” he said.
Suleiman Tejidini, APC chairman of Ilorin West, corroborated Abubakar’s statement.
“Your achievements are very glaring and we can walk in our communities with our heads high. We urge you to continue in that path. We are 100 percent behind your administration, especially because the people of the state are very happy with you,” Tejidini stated.
His counterpart from Isin local government, Dele Ogunbayo, said the last 100 days have been very eventful for Kwarans.
“We are having very positive reviews from our people and we are very glad about that. Your steady steps and impacts in the past 100 days showed we did not make the wrong choice. So, we are happy to identify with you. The party naturally will feel happy to have a representative that makes its job easy. This is what you have done,” he said.
Ogunbayo thanked AbdulRazaq for always willing to talk to everybody especially party leaders and members, urging him to ensure that the soon-to-be-unveiled cabinet is representative of various interests in the state.
Abdullahi Hassan, the APC chairman in Asa local government, said AbdulRazaq’s efforts in the area of health, water, education and civil service have been a clear departure from the past.
“It is our pride that you are succeeding already. Nothing could be better for us. If you fail, people won’t listen to us anymore. So we are very happy that you are doing well in just 100 days. We are standing by you at all times. You have shown focus and people can see the difference in terms of the temperament and humble relationship with the masses,” Hassan said.
AbdulRazaq, for his part, thanked the party leaders for their visit, pledging to ensure that the party is consulted from time to time on issues of governance and spread of democracy dividends especially infrastructure that benefits the whole state.
He urged them to always draw his attention to issues at their respective communities since they are closer to the people, pledging to roll out a number of projects in the coming months especially in the area of education, roads, health and sanitation.
