The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured that work on the 13.4 km Epe- Ijebu Ode road would start immediately after the raining season.
Prince Abiodun who made this known at the 8day Fidau prayer in honour of former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye, who served under the administration of Chief Olusegun Osoba, between 1992- 1993, said his promise to be just, free and fair was between him, the people and God Almighty.
The governor who noted that his administration was looking at roads that link the state with other states, added that if the roads were properly put in shape, it would aid his government to pull companies into the state and make movement on the road easy for the people.
Abiodun disclosed that he and his Lagos state counterpart had written to President Buhari to release to them the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta and Ikorodu-Sagamu roads, with the aim of commencing work on the roads, decrying the slow pace of work on the road which he said had only a billion naira for it in the budget annually.
” We went to meet the president, I want to tell you that myself and the Lagos state governor went to the president to ask that the roads should be given to us, because the budget for the road will not finish it in another forty years, when only 1 billion is awarded every year.
” We now thought that if the roads was given to us that directly use it, we can collaborate with the private sector and finish it on time,” he said.
The governor commended President Muhammadu Buhari for mandating the Inspector General of Police to provide an helicopter for the state in the pursuit of criminals who had made roads that pass through the state their hideout, adding that the police and vigilante groups in the state was able to sweep out the kidnappers from their hideouts and also rescue their victims with the help of the support of the president.
He appreciated the effort of the people of Ijebu East Local Government at the last general elections, saying that his administration would ensure that the life of its people was positively touched.
In his remarks, former governor of the state, who the late politician served under, Chief Olusegun Osoba commended the Ogun State Governor for asking the federal government to cede to his government the right to repair the Federal roads linking the state with Lagos state, adding that he believed the governor woikd take the state to the height it deserves.

The Moyegeso of Itele, Oba(Engr.) Mufutau Kasali described the late politician as a man of honour whose love for his people can’t be quantified, adding that his death was a loss to Itele and the Ijebu East Local Government.
Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ijebu Mushin Central Mosque, Imam Sarafadeen Sulaimon described the late politician as a good man who had at heart the love of his people, saying that his life was not about money, but about the development of the state.
