Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin a humble young man of 32 years of age has made history by becoming the youngest Speaker in history of Nigeria democracy on Monday as the 9th Assembly inauguration is underway in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The only state Honourable member who was re-elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections Mr Adebo Edward Ogundoyin is reportedly elected Speaker of the 9th Assembly of Oyo state legislature.
Hon Ogundoyin who joined the 8th Assembly barely eight months ago is a returning honourable from Ibarapa axis of Oyo State.
Meanwhile a vibrant, eloquent and professional journalist, Hon Aderemi Abiodun Fadeyi, who was former Special Adviser on Media to Senator Mulikat Adeola Akande has emerged Deputy Speaker.
Fadeyi contested under the platform of People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in 2019 general elections and elected as member to represent the people of Ona Ara Local Government, in Oyo State House of Assembly.
Ogundoyin is believed to have capability of guaranteeing a cordial and progressive relationship between the legislative house and the executive.
Adebo Edward Ogundoyin is the only PDP lawmaker that was re-elected in the 2019 general elections.
Considering the political mind-games that heralded the nominations of principal officers to occupy seats of the 9th Oyo State Assembly, Ogundoyin gained momentum in the views of political observers in the state.
The argument in his favour is the general expectation that Adebo Ogundoyin can coordinate the affairs of the house more effectively.
Many political groups and opinion polls suggested that Adebo Ogundoyin is the right person to work in tandem with the new dawn berthed in Oyo State.
A group among others noted that zoning the speakership seat to Ibarapaland will make the ruling party in the state stronger for rewarding loyalty and hardwork, adding that they can also guarantee a cordial and progressive relationship between the house under Debo Ogundoyin and the executive, under Seyi Makinde.
The Ibarapa Youth Vanguard in a publication stated that :
“We believe his political records can also speak for him, as the only PDP Assembly member in the state in this outgoing dispensation, he did not only deliver his ward and local government to PDP and Governor-elect, Seyi Makinde, he equally delivered the zone, this is a testament of how connected he is with his people,” the statement added.
What could perhaps have shot Ogundoyin to speakership is the experience in the house and his youthful, innovative ideas that could make Oyo State sets the pace of a new generation of leaders, by having the youngest speaker in the history of Nigeria.
The people of Oyo State understand that Ogundoyin has the leadership qualities to reposition Oyo Oyo State Assembly and become a vibrant legislative arm in the state.
