Elegushi, NGO offers free medicals to Lagos residents 

In an effort to promote the well-being and healthy living of Lagosians, prominent Lagos monarch, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom is partnering with a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Community Health and Informative Solutions (CHAIS) to offer free health check and medical services to residents of Eti-Osa Local Government.

The free medical services, under the Project Health For All programme of CHAIS is holding in Ikate, Lekki, on the behest of the monarch, who expressed his desire to have members of his community benefit from the programme, in order to check their health status and get medical advice and medications where necessary.

Speaking on the programme, the Project Director of CHAIS, Augusta Emele stated that the initiative is part of her organization’s plan to in fulfil Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is “to promote good health and well-being”.

She added that access to primary health care is critical to the development of the people, which is why the NGO is partnering with the Royal Father to bring health services closer to the residents of the local government.

In his reaction, the Asiwaju of Ikate Kingdom, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, who spoke on behalf of the Monarch, said that the Elegushi’s Palace is excited to offer this life-saving service to residents of the community in order to avail them an opportunity to improve on their health.

He noted that Oba Saheed Elegushi is passionate about the healthy living of his subjects, hence his decision to have this programme held at the palace grounds and all interested residents within and outside of Ikate Kingdom are expected to benefit.

Over 300 residents registered for the exercise and they will undergo medical checks on Blood pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol level, while they will be provided with relevant medications, mosquito treated nets for malaria prevention and other health improving items, at no cost to the beneficiaries.
