Prominent Lagos monarch, Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election, describing it as an endorsment from Nigerians.
In a release signed by the Monarch’s Public Affairs Assistant, Tope Oyefeso, he quoted the monarch as saying with the results of the election, President Buhari has gotten the nod of majority of Nigerians to continue his good work and it is expected that the country will witness improved growth and development
“With over 15million Nigerians voting for the President, I think one can conclude that this majority of voters believe in him and his government; I am confident he will do more for Nigerians in the years ahead and we will all be better for it”.
The monarch reminded the President not to take the people for granted, rather, he should improve on his performance from the last four years and ensure that lives of Nigerians improve better, in an atmosphere of peace and security.
“I want to advise the President not to take this overwhelming votes for granted. The well-being of all Nigerians must remain paramount. The President and his team should ensure that peace return to all troubled areas and all of us must have a country we can be proud of”, Elegushi stated.
The monarch equally commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the succees of the polls, noting that the acceptability of the elections by Nigerians, as well as local and international observers is a pointer to the good work of the Yakubu Mahmood led body.
He enjoined the electoral body to ensure that the Governorhsip and State Houses of Assembly election, holding in few days, follows similar pattern of a free, fair and credible process.
