Senior Special Adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications, Segun Dipe, has advised the People’s Democratic Party in the state to learn how to conduct itself when in “severe pain” and savor its misfortune alone, rather than attempting to drag the innocent people of the state along.
Dipe was responding to a release credited to Ekiti PDP and purportedly signed by one Lere Olayinka, where the opposition party described as “laughable” the decision of Governor Kayode Fayemi to take Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the State Pavilion in Ado Ekiti for the launch of the TraderMoni scheme in Ekiti.
According to Dipe, TradeMoni is an initiative of the federal government, through Bank of Industry, BoI, and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme/GEEP.
Perhaps the PDP in Ekiti is just waking up to the realisation that the social intervention scheme was duly approved by the national assembly long before its implementation, and the process is the same in every state.
“We need to ask the PDP what is laughable in the people, who they starved for four harrowing years through their mindless dictator, now getting a new lease of life. How many national schemes was the party able to attract to Ekiti during their years of misadventure in the state? Or are they implying that the people of the state did not deserve to benefit from the national social empowerment schemes like their counterparts in other states.”
In their ignorance, Dipe said, PDP has forgotten that the loan is for the traders and artisans plying their trade in any part of the state, be it at the Oja Bisi in Ado Ekiti or Elegberun Market in Ikere Ekiti. They all grouped to enjoy the lease of life that the federal government has brought to them.
“Rather than ruing their losses, both at the Ekiti election and the election coming in the February, are turning themselves to a busybody. The opposition party is still living in denial and has refused to accept the fact that the market has closed against them in Ekiti and Nigeria. As for our people, they have since left their Egypt and have landed in their Promised Land, where they have started enjoying the benefits of choosing the right person as their governor.”
“Having tasted hemlock and now savouring honey, Ekiti people can tell the difference and don’t want a Fayose or any of his goons to tell them what is good from what is bad, or who is wanted and who is unwanted.”
“It is now clear to everyone, the blind and the deaf included, that good days are here in Ekiti. The era of scamming, brigandage and showmanship is over in Ekiti. Salaries are being paid regularly to parents, the children are not paying taxes and their education is free. If there is anything to remember the last administration for, it is the pains and pangs of hunger it made us go through. Never again, will the people of Ekiti suffer such fate again. So PDP should stop swallowing Pain killers for the pain we are not experiencing.”
