Speaking at the resumed hearing of the case instituted by the police against Senator Adeleke ,Justice Ekwo querried why the police is bringing fresh application when a date has been fixed for hearing of the case.

The clearly angry judge was shocked that the police that brought case against a serving senator is the same body delaying substantive hearing ,openly questioning the motive of the prosecution

Contrary to the conventional practices and in clear abuse of court processes, the police filed an application to amend the charges after a date had been fixed for hearing

In what appear like shopping for evidence after instituting a case ,the application added fresh documents not originally filled and  amended the charges from four count to seven. This step frustrayed the hearing of the case.

Stopping short of openly throwing the case out,the judge warned counsels to cooperate with the court even as he said the court is ready to dispense justice without year or favour.

In another victory for Senator Adeleke ,the judge directed the Registrar of the Federal High Court to immediately release Senator Adeleke’s passport to allow him travel for medical check up.

The judge approved the application of  Alex Iziyon, counsel to Senator Adeleke who again reiterated the status of his client as a serving senator and a man of reputable background
