The killing of yet to be identified number of Nigerian Soldiers has been described as a wicked and dangerous act that should be totally condemned rather than playing politics with it and that everything should be done to support the government in its efforts at defeating the Aboki Haram terrorists.
This view was expressed by the President of Team Nigeria for Change,Chief Bestman Nze Jumbo in a press release he personally signed and made available to journalists on Monday in Lagos. He sympathised with the Nigerian government, people, the Army authorities as well as families of the deceased soldiers.
According to the Team Nigeria for Change “we are using this opportunity to commiserate with the government and people of Nigeria, the authorities of the Nigerian army and families of the deceased soldiers who were gruesomely murdered by the rampaging boko haram terrorists. We see this killing as “unwarranted, irresponsible, callous and vexatious.”
The group equally condemned the politicisation of the killings by the opposition party describing it as insensitive to the plight of the soldiers and their families, stressing that such act of wickedness must be totally rejected by all Nigerians no matter the political divide.
“Attempt by the opposition parties to turn this into a political matter is condemnable and irresponsible. At this critical period, any right thinking and logical Nigerian should support the president and the government in finding solutions to the menace of boko haram terrorism.
However, the group further posited that in order to effectively engage and defeat this murderous group, there is urgent need for the government to carry out extensive auditing of the finances of the army especially since the advent of civilian government to be able to establish the reason for the shortage of firearms.
The group maintained that a credible auditing firm should be engaged to audit the procurement of the Army since the return of civilian regime and that whoever found culpable must be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
” the government needs to engage a credible auditing firm to go through the procurement activities of the Nigerian army to establish that due process were followed. The outcome will be helpful in the battle against terrorism. And any officer or men culpable in under table dealings should be made to face the music so as to serve as deterrent to others. “the group concluded
