Fayose: The Man Ekiti People Will Never Forget

It’s time to talk on the expiring tenure of Gov. Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, because
whatever has a beginning must definitely have an end.
It’s a knwon fact that Fayose is not in the good book of Ekiti elites and the reason is connected  with the way some poisonous pen pushers who never wanted his likes to taste power,  portrayed him to the world during his first tenure as governor of Ekiti.
In spite the heated debates on his style of governance, no Ekiti governor is as blessed as the political giant in terms of making quick and witty decisions. Take it or not, Ekiti is blessed with a governor like Fayose. He is the least educated governor, but the best so far in the state in terms of performance.
Below is a compendium of reasons Ekiti people will continue to make pleasant comments on Ayo Fayose:
As it was stated in one of my previous writings that Fayose was faced with lots of crises both within and outside his party during his first tenure but the challenges didn’t prevent him from making the state  capital refurbished.
Lady Jibowu Hall in Government House was built by Fayose in honouring the first graduate among the ladies in the state.
The popular Fountain Hotel which his famous political enemies (E- 11) benefitted a lot from during the tenure of Dr. Kayode Fayemi was built by the same Fayose.
Workers’ salary which is now the issue was being paid regularly during his first tenure as the workers willingly tagged him their friend.
On his expiring tenure, the man used the mandate freely given to him by Ekiti people in 2014 to prove to the world that he has something unique to offer the state.
The Ikere – Ado road which was his initiative during his first tenure was completed.
Elegberun market in Ikere-Ekiti was constructed by the Afao born politician.
The people living in Awedele in Ado-Ekiti  never knew that the road there could be dualized, but Gov. Fayose made sure the road was dualized.
As Nova road from Adebayo to Basiri was constructed during his first tenure, so another virgin road was constructed from De- Head to Basiri in Ado- Ekiti under his watch.
Fayose used his initiative to dualize  local government headquarter roads.
The state recorded highest grades so far in the National Examination Council (NECO) as the state came first in two consecutive years under Fayose .
The ultra-modern High Court Complex in Ado- Ekiti is Fayose’s initiative.
The fly- over bridge in Ado -Ekiti is the best legacy project so far in the state.
The Adunni Olayinka Women Development Centre   which is now being used as Office of Wife of the Governor was built by Fayose.
As Fayose was the brain behind the most popular market in Ado (Fayose Market), so the about to be completed Oja Oba in Ado- Ekiti is another legacy project which will make his name to ring bell the more in the ears of Ekiti people.
At the last Udiroko festival, those who attended the programme could explain how happy the community leaders were as Oba Adejugbe Aladesanmi, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and Aare Afe Babalola specially heaped praises on the governor for the facelift he gave to the town right from the palace to every part of the state capital.
The emergence of Dr. Kayode Fayemi in July 14 election will give the members of his party, APC opportunity to see how beautiful the government house is under Fayose. I am sure that Erelu Bisi Fayemi who led the APC transition committee to government house yesterday will tell her husband that the place is no more as dirty as it was when they were leaving in 2014. Right from Tuesday, APC members will have opportunity to see the quality of work done on the new governor’s office and the newly commissioned Ministry of Finance building.
Fayose’s tenure will end on Monday as another man will occupy the seat on Tuesday, and those projects he was able to execute during his sojourn in government house will make Ekiti people to continue seeing him as the best. Until another man rises and break his records, he remains the best man to have ruled the Fountain of Knowledge.
