A group of delegates under the name of Conference of Concerned PDP Delegates have frowned at the recent move by the party to hold its convention in Rivers State. The National Chairman of the group Alhaji Adamu Gambo said it is quite disturbing to see that the convention will hold in Rivers State even against advice by stake holders..
The group amongst other things sited security issues as a reason why the convention should be relocated to neutral location,
It also view this as a ploy to impose a candidate on the party, according to the group, this plan will not be accepted as no candidate will be imposed on them, they ask that the party allow for a free and fair election.
The group wondered why the convention should be manipulated to hold in Port Harcourt without regard to the safety and welfare of Others, it added that this is a clear conspiracy against some contenders and may be an attempt by the opposition to manipulate the outcome of the convention, alluding to a recent alarm raised by a seating PDP from the South who recently accused the opposition APC of sponsoring moles in PDP.
CCPD therefore calls for immediate relocation of the convention venue to a neutral ground. That the convention planners must show some respect to all other contenders by choosing a neutral ground.
As an advice, it suggest that all delegates be authenticated as there might be plans to infiltrate the convention with unauthenticated delegates, in achieving this, it urged the party to adopt the use of PVC as means of identification for delegates before voting.
According to Alhaji Adamu Gambo, failure to listen to these advice, the concerned delegates will mobilise towards a boycott of the convention thereby making it a worthless and fruitless event which will make the party loose credibility. He advice the leadership of the party and NWC to urgently look into its demands as it reflects the demand of so many others to avoid the party being disgraced thereby creating room for the opposition to easily win the 2019 general election.
