- IN 1990 Hon. Eshilokun was elected Vice Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Ward C1 Isale Eko.

IN 1999, HON. WASIU ESHILOKUN SANNI was elected member of the Lagos State House of Assembly Representing Lagos Island Constituency I
In his first time as Hon Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly 1999 TO 2002, Hon. Eshilokun made remarkable contributions as he also served in various committees as chairman or member. these roles included:

Most notably Hon. WASIU ESHILOKUN was the major sponsor of the CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT BILL that was successfully passed into law. This has been adopted as a model across the country.

IN YEAR 2008, HON ESHILOKUN SANNI WAS AGAIN CALLED TO SERVICE BY THE ADMINISTRATION OF HIS EXCELLENCY MR. BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA (SAN) WHO APPOINTED HIM AS THE SECRETARY OF THE LAGOS STATE MICRO FINANCE INSTITUTION (LASMI).

As he was settling in into this position, he was once again called upon to serve the people of Lagos Island Local Government as EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN.
HON WASIU ESHILOKUN SANNI served two terms As Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government from 2008 to 2011 and from 2011 to 2014
He was able to achieve a lot of things whilst he was Chairman some are as follows:
Built new schools like the Ansar raudeen Primary School Alakoro, Elegbata Junior school e.tc
He also rehabilitated a lot of Schools.
Construction of about Eighty (80) roads such as John Street Idumota, Ojo giwa, Oroyinyin,Isale-agbede, iga idugaran, Church street e.t.c
He also had programmes like the My complete students where pupils and students are given all materials needed for school like school bag, textbooks, shoes, math sets e.tc.
Also another programme called Care for the Aged, where stipends and medical care was given to the aged and many more.

IN 2014 HON. ESHILOKUN WAS ELECTED STATE SECRETARY OF ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, (APC) LAGOS STATE, A POSITION HE HELD BEFORE CONTESTING FOR AND BEING ELECTED AS HON, MEMBER OF THE LASGOS STTATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY REPRESENTING LAGOS ISLAND CONSITUENCY 1, IN 2015.

HE IS CURRENTLY THE DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE LAGOS STATE HOUSE OF (8TH) ASSEMBLY SINCE JUNE 2015.
HE IS CURRENTLY SPONSORING THREE (3) MAJOR BILLS NAMELY:
(A) “A BILL FOR A LAW TO ESTABLISH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT BOARD IN LAGOS STATE AND FOR CONNECTED PURPOSES”
(B) “A BILL FOR A LAW TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT THE LAGOS STATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE COMMISSION LAW AND FOR CONNECTED PURPOSES”
(C) “A BILL TO AMEND THE LAGOS STATE PUBLIC FINANCE LAWS 2011.
The first two have passed the “SECOND READING” Stage.
He is ever so active and articulate in debate and contributions on the floor of the house. his numerous motions and assignment are pointers to his sound mind, wealth of knowledge about legislative process and current issues in Lagos and Nigeria polity.
