SENATE President, Sen Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara would be among those attending a youth conference aimed at educating young aspirants seeking positions in 2019 general election.
Also expected at the event which would provide a platform that would expose participants to lessons from experienced politicians are Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and Cross River State governor, Prof Ben Ayade.
Convener of the forum and former governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, Mr. Moses Siasia, said the conference was planned to offer participants, especially first-time elective office aspirants the needed support in acquiring party nomination forms.
Siasia, who is also the Team Leader of the New Nigeria 2019 Movement NN19, said the conference would assist participants with the required knowledge for the complex processes involved in preparing for elections in Nigeria.
His words: “Those who want to know and learn what it takes to run, understand the challenges and prospects involved in standing for election, those who desire to be mentored by successful politicians, including ex-Presidents, those who want to connect and meet up with fellow young aspirants from other states and constituencies for partnerships and networking opportunities, those who want to hear directly from Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria ,INEC, on election guidelines, procedures and limitations, and use the platform to ask personal questions, this conference is for them. I have always said that young aspirants can contest and win as first-timers if they truly listen to people who have garnered adequate experience over many political seasons.”
