A leading pro-masses movement, Ekiti Liberation Movement (ELM) has projected the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Segun Adewale popularly known as OSAPraPra to win the forthcoming July 14th election in the State.
The Director General of the organization, Chief Sunday Anifowoshe made the projection while addressing the press in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, saying his group arrived at that conclusion after sampling opinions of electorates across the 16 local governments in the state.
Mr. Anifowoshe said at least 7 out of 10 electorates interviewed are favourably swayed to Adewale of ADP, whom they vowed to vote on July 14.
He gave insights on the finding of the group, which showed that artisans, civil servants, traditional leaders, academicians, youths and elites keying into the 7 points agenda of the candidate of the ADP, with most of them accepting that of all the candidates in the election, only Segun Adewale, was able to state his vision and mission for Ekiti clearly.
Mr. Anifowoshe also relayed that most of the electorate are willing to cast their votes for ADP because of the disappointments they have experienced from both Kayode Fayemi, whom they vow won’t be returned to power and Ayodele Fayose’s candidate, Olusola Eleka, in what they termed rejection of continuity of corruption, deceit, anguish and poverty.
ELM recorded that ADP campaign is the most effective amongst all other candidates, pointing out the Adewale went down to the grassroots and is relating with the electorate directly unlike the others.
Mr Anifowoshe said ADP will win majority votes because the people of Ekiti want a fresh face and new ways of doing things, stressing that its projection is based on field reports and questioniers filled by some electorates in the state.
Speaking on the influence of power of incumbency and Federal might, ELM postulated that such won’t have much effect because the people have already made up their minds, adding that any attempt to intimidate the people would fail.
Mr. Anifowoshe indicated the resolve of the electorates to resist luring them with money by both APC and PDP to vote against their conscience, noting that they fears that it will back fire and subject them into another round of under development and poverty for the next four years.
ELM posited that majority of the electorate won’t be bothered by external influence, as both PDP and APC have continued to parade the names of their top politicians in the media, giving unnecessary hype to their slim chances.
The group, however, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a free and fair poll, noting that INEC and all the security forces must carry out their assignment in the state with all due diligence and be non partisan.
ELM further demanded that local and international observers must also ensure that the right candidate emerge to avoid breaking down of law and order in the case of electoral manipulation.
