The attention of Pastor Dr. Bayo Ojo, Provost of Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti has been drawn to an unguarded statement and utterances of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti State gubernatorial aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC) at a rally in Ijero, thereby constituting defamation of character, false alarm and threat to life.
In a Press Statement, Pastor Bayo Ojo said that Dr. John Kayode Fayemi categorically stated that all his efforts as Provost to turn the Institution to habitat of thugs was well known hence alleging Fayemi of false alarm, defaming his character, and painting the image of the citadel of learning bad.
Pastor Bayo Ojo said that the Institution which Fayemi described as habitat of thugs has been recording best in various National Examination, and having many awards of Excellence recorded in the career of the Provost.
Pastor Bayo Ojo said Kayode Fayemi as an aspirant canvassing for votes, had arrogantly said that punishment awaited him, saying such statement was derogatory and uncivilized.
Moreso, Pastor Bayo Ojo said that the Law Enforcement Agents had been notified of Fayemi’s threat to his life considering the weightiness of his statement “Whoever knows the Provost, College of Health and Science Technology Ijero-Ekiti should tell him that his punishment will be severe”.
The Provost said that considering the spate at which Nigerians were being kidnapped, abducted or assasinated, the punishment being planned against him by John Kayode Fayemi could be any of those trio heinous acts.
Pastor Bayo Ojo described Dr. Kayode Fayemi as being politically kidding for bringing insincere recall to public glare in the procedure of his appointment as Provost. He said that his appointment during his first tenure was never based on recommendation of Chief Jide Awe, Chairman of APC as the procedure of appointment of Provost, in consideration of the College of Health Sciences and Technology Governing Council Law, has nothing to do with a Party Chairman’s recommendation.
Pastor Bayo Ojo said that Chief Jide Awe remains his childhood friend, in spite of their political differences but would never allow cheap glory to be given to him. Pastor Bayo Ojo said that he was not surprised at the uncomplimentary remarks against him by Fayemi, a whole former Governor of Ekiti State, saying he had said worse to undermine Chief Jide Awe, a whole Chairman of his political Party on Adaba Radio, when he described his highly respected friend as making the statement of a drunkard. Pastor Bayo Ojo said that he was not one of those people that Fayemi and his cohorts could blackmail, tell cock and bull stories about or concoct stories to malign. He reminded Nigerians of the APC phenomenon of media trials and phantom accusations against their fellow Nigerians.
Pastor Bayo Ojo said that the political naevety of former Governor John Kayode Fayemi was so obvious that he couldn’t even bother that thousands of students felt bad and insulted while their parents embarrassed by calling the institution where their wards are being trained a habitat of thugs.
Pastor Dr. Bayo Ojo, moreover warned Dr. John Kayode Fayemi to stop defaming his character, stop raising false alarm and should undertake that his life is secure. He further advised him to face his campaign with objectivity, decency and respect to humanity rather than campaign of calumny, politics of senselessness and bitterness.
