The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the Ekiti state governorship election, Otunba Segun Adewale has described the death of Barrister Kole Ajayi as a rude shock and frightening, expressing his deepest condolences to the family and the state for the monumental loss.
Ajayi, until his death on Friday, is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contested the ticket of the party for the July 14 governorship election.
Adewale while paying his last respect to the deceased in a condolence message on Saturday described the transition of Ajayi as “sad and painful”, adding that the state has been denied the services and potentials of a committed and dedicated politician.
“It’s terrible to hear about the demise of Barrister (Ajayi) and I express my sincere sympathy to the family, his party (APC) and state as a whole” he said in the condolence message he personally signed.
“I offer you (family) my thoughts, prayers and supports during this dark moment in your life. I hope that God brings the family the much-needed peace during this sad time. My condolences for this irreparable loss,” Adewale added.
OSAPraPra, as he is fondly called by his admirers, urged Ajayi’s family, friend, associates and Ekiti State University Alumni to honour his memory, by continually upholding the values of honesty and accountability, which served as his reference point throughout his time on Earth.
He prayed that God will grant the family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and comfort all who mourn the passage of the late politician.
Adewale, however, announced the suspension of his campaign activities for 48 hours (Saturday & Sunday) as a mark of honour for the deceased, noting that he (Ajayi) contributions to the evolution of Ekiti politics will be forever remembered.
