The attention of the Osun state chapter of the People’s Democratic party has been drawn to a statement issued by a former Deputy Governor of the State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore on reasons why he decided to leave the party at this time.
While we may not necessarily want to join issues with Otunba Omisore on a decision he freely took as an adult, it is very necessary to put records straight and correct some falsehoods contained in his statement.
It must be clearly stated that what pitched Otunba Omisore against majority of PDP members in Osun state was his decision to pursue his legitimate ambition to be Governor in an illegitimate, indecent and desperate manner against the constitution of the party which favours internal democracy over manipulative autocracy in the choice of candidates.
Otunba Omisore unfortunately failed to correctly read the present mood of the party and align with the desire of the generality of leaders and members of the party.
This is why he could not convince even 1 chairman out of 332, any local government party chairman or member of the state Exco to follow him on this undesirable journey to a bleak political destination.
The structure of the PDP remains intact and strong in all 30 Local Governments and the Area office as party members hold regular meetings and mobilisation ahead of the September Governorship election.
It will amount to the greatest form of self deceit for Otunba Omisore to think that the people of Osun state will forsake a tested and trusted political party like the PDP and cast their votes for any other political party in their quest for a restoration of the glory of Osun state which has been basterdided by the Aregbesola-led APC.
Osun PDP will not lose its focus on this very crucial task on hand even as it engages all critical stakeholders in the mission to democratically chase out the inept and corrupt APC.
Those who wish to join us on this mission will be heartily welcome while those who chose to stylishly aid the exploiters of our people will not be forgotten by history!
