Good news this morning as Nigeria’s D’Tigers have started on a good note by beating Tunisia 60-56 in the opening game of the Olympic men’s basketball tournament, Group A preliminary rounds.

Nigeria led the Tunisians all through with gaps as wide as 15 points, but the Tunisians fought back, narrowing the lead to 2 points in the fourth quarter.

Alade Aminu scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds making him the highest scorer for Nigeria, while Ike Diogu added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Nigeria meets Lithuania on tuesday 31st July by 2:30pm, after which they will face the third and most dreaded team in Group A, the USA on 4th of August 2012 at 10:15pm.
