Acada Magazine, Nigeria’s foremost consistent campus youth magazine is 10, having hit the newsstand in 2007. As the free bi-weekly youth tabloid marks one decade of publishing, series of activities were lined up throughout the year to celebrate, one of such is the free meal for 1500 people within Agege, Ebute Metta and Ilupeju axis of Lagos held on the 29th and 30th June, 2017 respectively.
The Free meal for 1,500 people is a follow up to the March 1, 2017 visitation to Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children, Surulere, Lagos when Acada Magazine and friends of the organization donated foodstuffs, toiletries, beverages and other valuable items to the excited students.
The Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Acada Magazine, Mr. ‘Biodun Caston-Dada said “as we celebrate Acada Magazine at 10, we decided to give back to the society, having stayed relevant and consistently feeding the public, especially youths with life enhancing and up-to-date educative information for ten years now, it’s also necessary to feed the bellies of the less privileged which is our own little way of contributing to the society”.
The success story of the free meal for 1,500 people won’t be complete without mentioning the contributions of some celebrities home and abroad, such as Frank ‘Papas’ Okamigbo, Peter Lentini, Rose P. Graham, Tayo ‘Sotayo’ Sobola, Lydia Babatunde, Victor Essiet of the ‘Mandators’ and Adeniyi Johnson.
Beyond other youth empowerment programmes previously embarked upon in the course of the 10 years journey, there are some activities lined up throughout the remaining days of 2017 to mark the 10th anniversary such as Youth Motivational/ Entrepreneurship Seminar, Business Start up Grants of N100,000 for 10 Young People,10 free GCE forms for 10 Candidates, Donation of 10,000 School Bags to Public Primary and Secondary Schools and Empowerment Training Programme for 10 people in (Cake Making, Photography/Graphics Design and Make Up Artistry), FAM Awards for up and coming Nigerian artistes amongst others
