Ize-Iyamu wants Edo media sanctioned
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu
The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Edo State, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, has urged the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to sanction all the federal media organizations in Edo State for rejecting PDP news reports and advert jingles.
Ize-Iyamu made the call in a statement issued by his campaign organization, which was signed by Mr. Efe Igbinovia.
He alleged that the campaign organisation was aware that the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Radio Nigeria and the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Edo State were acting on an order given to them by the Minister for Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammad.
Efe said “it is ironic that media houses which were established by the federal government, for public interests, and being funded with tax payers’ monies could follow such order.”
According to him, it was on record that there was no time in the past when the PDP-led federal government ordered any media house to reject APC jingles or news reports.
Efe, however, said if nothing was done, they would be left with no option than to seek redress from international media monitoring bodies.
