Attah at 77: Chief Okori salutes ex- Governor

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for the March 28, 2015senatorial election, Chief Inibehe Okori has joined millions of Akwa Ibom people at home and in the diaspora and indeed Nigerians to rejoice with elder statesman and former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Victor Attah who clocks 77 onNovember 20th, 2015.

 

In a goodwill message by Chief Okori in Abuja,  the APC chieftain thanked God for the life of Obong Attah, describing the former Governor as an embodiment of humility, hard work, selfless service and above all, a unifying force whose actions have gone a long way to cementing the bond of  unity among the diverse ethnic groups in Akwa Ibom state.

” On behalf of myself and family, the DG and members of the Inibehe Okori  Campaign Organisation and the entire people of Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district,  I join millions of Akwa Ibom people both at home and in the diaspora to congratulate you on this unique and exceptionally memorable day of yours as you clock 77″.

 

” Your Excellency,  seven has always been a divinely unique number in the history of mankind. Even God created man on the seventh day let alone 77 fruitful years on earth. As you celebrate your 77th birthdaytoday, I pray God to continue to grant you long life, good health and divine wisdom as you continue to contribute your wealth of experience,  knowledge and expertise towards the economic development, political  emancipation and prosperity of Akwa Ibom state”, the release stated.

Chief Okori described Attah as an elder statesman whose disposition and ideology to life has contributed greatly in the political evolution and development of not just Akwa Ibom state but the Niger Delta region and the country at large,  noting with delight that the state and region is todayreaping from the fruits of his struggle towards the abrogation of the obnoxious offshore/ onshore dichotomy which has resulted in the 13% oil derivation revenue to oil producing states in the country.

 

He commended Attah for his many selfless service to humanity, stating that the life of Obong Attah is worthy of emulation by the younger generation. Chief Okori called on the former Governor not to relent in his characteristic nature of contributing positively to contemporary issues as it affects the state of the nation geared towards the realization of good governance, the rule of law and respect to democratic ideas needed to move the country from where it is today to where it ought to be.

He commended Attah for his patriotic and destabilized disposition to all who come his way irrespective of religion,  tribe or ethnic origin and prayed for more fruitful years and long life upon the former Governor and wished the Ibesikpo Asutan born archi
