Students shed tears of joy at Cowbellpedia quiz competition
It was excitement galore at the Just Media Studio at Ogba area of Lagos during the recording of one of the episodes of the maiden edition of the Cowbellpedia Mathematics Quiz Competition as some students were emotionally overwhelmed to the extent that they freely shed tears of joy.
Winners in the junior and senior secondary schools categories of the TV Quiz Competition are to be unveiled onMonday, November 2, 2015.
Speaking at the semi-finals of the competition, some of the students applauded Promasidor Nigeria Limited for the concerted efforts at encouraging students to take more interest in mathematics which they all agreed is a foundation subject for all sciences
Out of the 34,000 students that participated in the competition, only 12 have made it to the finals. There are six finalists in the junior secondary school category and six finalists in the senior secondary school category.
Those who qualified in the junior category are: Abdulmueez Yusuf (Nigerian Turkish International College, Abuja); Munachi Ernest-Eze (Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja); Ajoke Taiwo (Scholars Universal Secondary School, Ota); Olabisi Bello (Dansol High School, Acme Crescent); Ayomide Fadipe (Loyola Jesuit College); and Evans Owamoyo (Greater Tomorrow International College, Arigidi).
Similarly, Joshua Mukot (Emilis Academy, Calabar); Inibehe Otoho (Topfaith International Secondary School, Mkpatak, Akwa Ibom state); Titilayo Adewale-Fasoro (Hallmark Secondary School, Itanla, Ondo State); Mariam Sanni (Ota Total Academy, Ota); Ayomide Kamaldeen (Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja); and Ayodeji Akinkuowo (Adeyemi Demonstration Secondary School, Ondo) made it to the final stage in the senior category.
Speaking on his impression, one of the finalists, Munachi Ernest-Eze, a 13-year old student of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja commended Promasidor Nigeria Limited for sponsoring the competition through one of its brands- Cowbell.
While also stating that he has been good in mathematics, he acknowledged that the Cowbellpedia competition has enhanced his interest in the subject. He also commended the Mathematics teachers of the different participating schools for preparing the children for the competition.
His words: “You can see that I am shedding tears of joy. It is not only because of my brilliant performance but because of the high standard of the competition. It is obvious that a lot of preparation has gone into achieving this level of performance. I commend the teachers, I also commend Cowbell for giving us this opportunity”.
Speaking further, he said: “I must also use this opportunity to call on other corporate organisations to emulate Promasidor. They should invest in the intellectual development of children because we are the future of this nation”
Apart from enhancing their interest in mathematics, some of the students also revealed that participation in the Quiz competition has changed their lives especially in the area of fame.

He also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the competition.
It would be recalled that Cowbell has been sponsoring mathematics competition in secondary schools in the past 15 years but the 2015 edition was changed to include the Cowbellpedia TV competition.
Speaking earlier, the managing director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Olivier Thiry, had said that innovation sits at the core of what the organisation does, adding that innovation drives the way the team thinks, act and interact with their consumers and customers.
