True Software, the company behind the popular Truecaller and Truedialler apps, has just launched a new application called Truemessenger. As you might expect from the name, this is a messenger application that hopes to do for SMS what Truecaller does for calls. The Truemessenger app was launched on the Play Store today August 17, 2015.
The Truemessenger is a free mobile app that aims to make SMS smarter and contain less spam. How it achieves this is by verifying the identity of those who send you SMS messages, allowing you to mark specific senders as a spammer in the contact list. This will then prevent said contact from contacting you via SMS.
There are two main screens – inbox and spam – that you can switch between thanks to buttons at the bottom of the screen, and you can easily mark senders as spam so you won’t see messages from them again in your inbox.
Also, Truemessenger automatically assigns photos, nicknames and other details to contacts, pulled from social networks. Oh, and it has an exclusive message tone composed by Swedish DJ, Avicii.
Speaking on the launch of the Truemessenger app, Alan Mamedi, CEO & Co-founder of Truecaller said: “We are at a crossroads of sorts, in terms of spam messages we receive on our mobile phones, and despite the evolution of services in other areas, little has been done to curb the number of spam messages we receive on a daily basis. With Truemessenger’s global rollout, we’re bringing you the combined power of our global community with information from your own personal networks so you’ll never again have to worry about anonymous numbers”. Truemessenger takes a phone number, uses the power of the 150 million member Truecaller community to identify an actual name behind the number.
Summarily, the core features of the Truemessenger app are:
- The ability to put a name to a number, even for contacts outside your phonebook
- The resources to detect, block, and report spam alongside other Truecaller members to build a smarter community
- The option to avoid messages from unwanted numbers and contacts
- A clean Inbox where spam messages are magically sent to a separate folder
- The ability to add advanced filtering options by creating customized filters with known spam keywords or number series (area codes or country codes
- Truemessenger Bonus: Exclusive message alert tone brought to you by Avicii
The app has a default blue theme which can be customized according to the skin of the device users wish to keep.
