The Executive governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has promised to construct a decent orientation camp that would be conducive enough for the activities of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos state.
Gov. Ambode, who was duly represented by the Director of Finance and Administration, Ministry of Special Duties, Dr Titilayo Dosunmu, made the pledge at the closing ceremony of the orientation for 2015 NYSC Batch ‘A’ Stream II members, at the orientation camp in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.
In his address, Governor Ambode noted that the plan for the suitable and more conducive camp is underway.
“The Lagos State Government will leave no stone unturned in working hard to ensure that the proper platform for youth development is put in place and properly utilised.
“I appreciate the management of the scheme and collaborating agencies for ensuring a hitch-free orientation exercise in spite of the limitation in the camp facilities.
“We shall continue to improve on the camp facilities in the readiness for other batches of corps members,” he said.
In the same vein, Gov. Ambode stated that his led administration strongly believes that youths have the abilities to perform excellently in the implementation of development programmes of the state.
“You are expected to contribute and excel in the developmental programmes of the state, especially in the areas of providing manpower for qualitative free education, free medical service and environmental sanitation.
“We shall not spare any effort in ensuring that your proven expertise and creative energies are fully harnessed towards making Lagos the best city of our time.
“Lagos State has a tradition of rewarding excellence in the course of your service; I urge you to be diligent, selfless and hardworking, so that you will be rewarded at the end of the service year,” the governor concluded.
