The information reaching Naijahottestgist, from a reliable source at the Presidential Villa, has it that President Muhammad Buhari led government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria allegedly awarded a contract running to the sum of two hundred and fourteen million naira (#214M) for the renovation of the Presidential Villa that is presently ongoing.
Our source, who has pleaded anonymous, also revealed that this explains why both President Muhammad Buhari and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, are yet to resume at their official abodes at the Presidential Villa.
According to our source, the out-gone administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan only wanted a slight maintenance of the Villa that would not cost so much because the Villa was not in a deteriorating state.
Similarly, it was gathered that the sum of sixty five million naira (#65M) has also been allegedly approved for the procurement of medical equipment and logistics for the Presidential clinic at the Villa.
This is coming barely two weeks after the formal inauguration of the new government, while several burning issues, including ministerial and other key appointments, are yet to be attended to.
A phone call was placed to the Special Adviser to President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, to hear presidential side of the story. He, however, denied this allegation, explaining that the process leading to the renovation of the Villa had started three weeks before the formal handover exercise to President Buhari government.
Mr. Adesina stated further that Bureau of Public Procurement would have to review whatever amount Julius Berger comes up with for the renovation before it would be forwarded to the President for approval. Moreover, he denied the story on the procurement of medical equipment for the Presidential clinic. “The story on the approval for the procurement of medical equipment for the Presidential clinic does not exist,” Mr. Adesina concluded.
