I stand by the decision of our great party to decide who becomes the senate president, the deputy senate president, the speaker of the House of Reps, the deputy speaker and others at a time like this given the struggle we went through to unseat PDP and the enormity of the problems inherited after sixteen years rudderless and irresponsible leadership.
In a serious business of electing the principal officers in the senate how can 57 ignore the 51 even in electing the senate president? Can one third rule of forming a quorum in the senate apply in this special case? I do not think so because APC has a job to do in Nigeria and it needs men and women they can trust to do the job.
The invasion of the hallow chambers of the senate by PDP leaders including Fayose, Wike , Obanikoro, Udom, Mimiko, Akpabio, and others gave a frightening signals that these men of yesterdays who ruined and destroyed Nigeria are back to continue the business as usual. Those who destroyed our yesterday cannot be the ones to control tomorrow’s potentials.
The impression one gets is that president Buhari is not interested in who becomes the principal officers of the national assembly but i think differently. He has to play the real politics. He needs a team of men and women of proven integrity and character to deal with enormous challenges confronting Nigeria. One wrong person in position of authority can ruin the entire system.
5. The leadership of APC is 120% right, beyond mathematics to insist that the so called elected leaders in the national assembly are total strangers whose actions and deeds can render nugatory our robust plans to reclaim and rebuild Nigeria. These strangers may want to sustain the status quo.
APC leadership must therefore go extra miles to wield the big stick and apply adequate sanctions and if possible work for their impeachment as a way of sending a strong signal out there that we mean business.
President Buhari must like a lion he is put his huge feet down and throw his weight down to support the decision of our party. Some people must not be treated with kids’ gloves here.
