We, at the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) NIGERIA, view the emergence of Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively as a rather selfish, unprincipled and convenient alliance, very unholy for our country and for all the promise that the APC proposed.
Is the APC truly original? or, just a bunch of disgruntled ex-PDP members seeking their individual re-affirmation to get back at their former Party – the PDP? The results from the 8th Legislature confirm same. Nigerians have just been treated to a round-robin by the same old crooks.
This Saraki/Ekweremadu union goes against all institutional cohesion required to move our country ahead. Nobody may rue that, not at this stage of our national development. The short-term benefits cannot supersede the long-term distress our country may be plunged into, as two individuals defied their Party status-quo to begin guiding our country as the Senate President, and his deputy respectively.
Bucking the trend always has a backlash. Politically. The seeds of another political unrest were just sown today in the Senate chambers at Abuja. Not healthy for our democracy. We, as Nigerians may not pay for Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu’s marriage. We have not heard the last of it.
The neglected APC hierarchy, will extract its pound of flesh. Yes.
It is our opinion that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party, may have unwittingly set the stage for a chaotic legislature.
We, at the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) NIGERIA simply ask, What does Bukola Saraki want? And how does that translate for Nigeria?. Bukola Saraki, has just managed to impose his individual ambition on his party. Payback they say, is a bitch. The APC senate caucus may from hence, deny Bukola Saraki any co-operation when he seeks to introduce or debate bills on the floor. The Executive will be left twisting in the wind because of the infraction in the legislature. The PDP which has managed to insert itself into the fall-out, will simply wait in the wings to be settled, and eventually co-operate. No principled stands here.
Welcome to Nigeria. The manipulation and corruption continues.
And the APC promised what again?
The APC just revealed itself as a bunch of disordered ex-PDP elements whose only ambition was to wrest power from the other competing PDP interests. Dividing the spoils, was entirely another matter. The competition continues. It also showcases the APC as plan less. Making it up as they go, is not what Nigerians envisaged. A nation suffers where there is competing leadership. It is open season in Nigeria. Survival of the fittest. Barbarians at the gate. We, at the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) Nigeria, call for a better organization, disciplined in the affairs of state, rather than this mis-matched cobweb of factional groups which have heralded the first week of the APC administration, and are at each others throat for the election spoils. Where is the much vaunted Buhari discipline?.
Bukola Saraki is emerging as the true maverick in Nigerian politics. Much like his Father – Olusola, who dared the NPN hierarchy in the 80’s, Bukola is at it again. Swinging between the PDP and the APC, and at his convenience, too. Playing on our dime. Can somebody really tell us what Political Party Bukola Saraki belongs to? Or, is it all about his whim and wizardry, in manipulating all to his benefit?.
Say, Bukola Saraki is really PDP at heart, with 8 years as a PDP Governor, 4 of those years as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and 3 years as PDP Legislator, This guy is a dyed-in-the-wool PDP. Nigerians are truly in for a dribble.
The PDP echelon still smarting from a colossal loss of Federal hierarchies and patronage seems to be looking for a role, any role. We at the APGA are not sure this is the role they were looking for. An Opportunistic grab at the Deputy Presidency of the Nigerian Senate makes the PDP look desperate. What brain trust in the PDP designed this? The National Working Committee (NWC), Governors’ Forum, or Board of Trustees? Hello? Or, did Ekweremadu simply make his own move, and for whose benefit?
This whole outlook was simply designed to encourage disaffection and throw rancor within the APC ranks. A smart political move, some may say. It however, had no Nationalistic benefit to it. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, may not be our national mantra. Cry, My beloved country, Nigeria.
Is the PDP now a bunch of untethered herd looking to be moored to some form of stand?. Ekweremadu may have temporarily provided some form of focus for the disorganized lot. But the other sects in the PDP Party, probably see Ekweremadu as making his own move and will be open to any deals. Their own deals. We are Nigerians afterall, no real unifying sentiment, but islands of cohesion.
Grabbing at any coattails to remind them of the good old days. The PDP are still in the throes of denial. They do not believe they lost it all. They cannot believe everything has been withdrawn from them, and will gladly grab at any offering. Oh! the days of yore. Greed.
This showcases the PDP as a non-opposition party, but as a party with no overarching focus regarding our National interest, willing to go where it is led, for individualistic ends. With this advent, we may begin to expect defections to the APC ruling party very soon, so that none is really seen as being in opposition.
We, at the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) NIGERIA, deplore this individualistic alliance which does our Nation no good. But continues a cycle of individual brigandage which has brought our country to its sorry state.
The ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) NIGERIA, will continue to be the eyes and ears of the Nigerian public, bringing to fore issues which must be debated for the welfare and greater good of the Nigerian Electorate.
Because at the APGA, we remain our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers.
Goodnight PDP.
