The Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on social media and the CEO of Storm Records, Mr. Obi Asika has lost his aged mother, Chinyere Asika.
The late Chinyere Asika happened to be the wife of the late Governor of Former East Central State, Ajie Ukpabi Asika.Similarly, the late Chinyere Asika was a senior special adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo during his reign.. Mrs. Chinyere Asika had been a Non-Executive Independent Director of Zenith Bank Plc since October 9, 2012.

In the same vein, Mrs. Asika was an accomplished scholar per excellence and an advocate of women empowerment. She was involved in a lot of national development initiatives. She was the Chairman, National Working Group of Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), a non-governmental organization. She had several years of experience in Management Consulting, Board and Corporate Governance.

She was conferred with the National Honour Award as Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in recognition of her contribution to the country. She had served in various capacities including Project Director of Multivar Systems, a firm for techno-economic Consultancy and is presently a Director with Dibueze Integrated Services Limited.

The late Mrs. Asika  founded numerous organizations including – Founder of Global Organization for Women Empowerment (GOWEM), Patron, Nigerian Girls Guide and is a life Fellow of Agriculture Graduates of Nigeria (AGAN). Mrs. Asika graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, United States of America and had received several academic awards to her honour including: (a) Honorary Doctorate degree by the Commonwealth University, Belize and (b) African Scholarship Programme in American Universities, Mills College, Oakland, California.
It would be recalled that Obi Asika was appointed by President Jonathan as the special adviser on social media immediately Reno Omokri had been relieved of the position. President Jonathan move had been seen then as an apparent maneuver to re-energize his social media image following a growing slide in his electoral  fortunes as well as a series of scandals involving Mr. Omokri, who until that time shaped and ran the incumbent president’s campaign on social media.
