Oyo butchers get N50m interest-free loan, endorse Ajimobi for second term

It was wild jubilation on Thursday by thousands of butchers in Oyo State as they collected the sum of N50 million interest-free loan from the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Consequently, the butchers, under the aegis of the Nigerian Butchers’ Union, Oyo State Chapter, have expressed their support to the second term bid of Governor Ajimobi.

The butchers, who went home with N100, 000 each, expressed appreciation to the governor for his unflinching support to their association since the inception of his administration.

The Chairman of the union, Alhaji Azeez Alagufon said that the Ajimobi administration had been beneficial to his members in several ways, including the opening of an ultra-modern abattoir, with modern facilities, which had standardized and smoothened the operation of butchers in the state.

Alagufon, whose speech was read by a member of the union, Mr. Abdul-Fatai Adekunle, also commended Governor Ajimobi for bringing back the peace which had hitherto eluded the state.

The union chairman also hailed the governor for his administration’s environmental sanitation and urban renewal programme which he said had changed the face of the state.

While distributing cheques to the butchers, Governor Ajimobi said the gesture was in fulfillment of the promise he had made to the butchers who he said had been good partners with his administration in its quest to transform and reposition the state.

The governor, who urged the butchers to continue their support for his administration, said that his mission in government was to serve God and humanity as well as to develop Oyo State and make it the envy of others in the country.
