Jega: INEC Speaks on Exit Rumour

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is still very much in charge at the commission contrary to reports that he has been sent on compulsory terminal leave by the Federal Government.

INEC’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Nick Dazang, disclosed this at a Dialogue with Publishers /of On-line Media on Peaceful Elections organised today in Abuja by the UNDP Democratic Governance for Development project.

“There is no such development,” Mr. Dazang stated.

Dazang made a presentation on ‘Updates on INEC Citizen Contact Centre and Preparations for the Elections’ at the Dialogue held at Bolton White Hotel & Apartments, Garki, Abuja. He assured that INEC is doing everything necessary to conduct free, fair and credible polls on the rescheduled dates of March 28 for presidential and National Assembly elections and April 11 for governorship polls.

Moderated by UNDP Media Expert Toyin Adewale-Gabriel, the forum was used to advocate for peaceful elections and encourage the dissemination of correct and accurate information on electoral processes related to the 2015 general elections.

Others who made presentations at the meeting include PREMIUM TIMES Publisher, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi, Yz Yau of CITAD, Kano; Nigerian Press Congress Media Director Stella Jubrin; and Sanmi Falobi of International Press Centre, Lagos.
