APC, LASSA Vandalise of President Jonathan’s Billboards in Lagos.

The Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency (LASSA) and the All People’s Congress (APC) have commenced the destruction of billboards and outdoor campaign materials being deployed for the campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan in parts of the state. Investigations show that four billboards have been confirmed to have been ordered removed or defaced by the Lagos State government agency under alleged instructions of the APC leadership and Lagos State Government officials.

The Goodluck Lagos Grassroots Project (GLGP), the body that has been actively involved in President Jonathan’s campaign in Lagos, said through its chairman, Alhaji Mufutau Babalola, that major outdoor site owners involved in the campaign are being threatened by LASSA with all forms of sanctions, ranging from outright deregistration to contract cancellations. ‘’We have been ordered to remove all President Jonathan’s and PDP materials on their sites or face lifetime ban by the regulatory agency’’.

‘’They have started pulling down our billboards. We paid and contracted legitimate site owners who are duly licensed by LASSA but the APC has decided to play dirty by defacing our billboards’’, Babalola stated.

He called on the police and security agencies to ensure protection of all campaign materials. ‘’They want to taunt us into playing their game but we won’t do that. The PDP is a peace loving party and the GLGP has done everything according to the law in running our campaign so far; this is why it is shocking that we would be treated this way by bandits and vandals in the skin of LASSA’’.

The organisation listed two unipole billboards on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja; an ultra-wave 96-sheet board at Ijora; and a rooftop on Ogba/Ijaiye Road as part of the ones vandalised. We have informed all those who should know about this development and are awaiting their intervention’’, , he said.
