Ekiti PDP Aspirant asks court to reject Fayose’s candidate

A Peoples Democratic Party aspirant for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Mr. Bamidele Oluwole, has urged an Abuja Federal High Court to quash the primaries in the constituency and order a fresh one.
Oluwole who asked the court to hold that no primary election held in the constituency on December 6, said votes were merely allotted to the preferred aspirant of Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mr. Thaddeus Aina.
Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, he stated that accreditation took place at about 7pm on the said date while the election was shifted to the following morning in the presence of party leaders, Independent National Electoral Commissioner officials, State Security Service and other security agents.
Oluwole said to his surprise, Aina was later declared winner of the purported primaries to actualise the Governor’s desire “of imposing his unpopular aspirant on the will of the good people of the constituency in flagrant violation of the constitution and the Electoral Act as well as best practices in sane clime globally.
“As law abiding citizens, I with other stakeholders have no choice but to approach the court to seek redress to this fundamental breach which is a sad reminder of military rule.
“In the light of the foregoing, it will be quite laughable if anyone parades himself as the candidate of PDP in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II for next month’s National Assembly election. I want to say unequivocally that such person is wasting his time,” he added.
Oluwole said he resorted to the legal battle after internal resolution mechanisms had failed, adding that he did not receive any response from the PDP Appeal Committee set up after the primaries.
Apart from Aina and Oluwole, other aspirants in the primaries were Cyril Fasuyi, Dotun Onipede and Banji Oyinloye all participated in the priamries.
