Goodluck Visit!Benue Workers plans Demonstrations

Workers in Benue State may stage a peaceful protest during President Goodluck Jonathan’s planned visit to the state to demand the payment of their three-month unpaid salaries.

it was learnt that civil servants in the state are already making consultations on how to carry out the protest.

A civil servant in the state, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said Governor Gabriel Suswam had put them in “monumental stagnation.”

Though, there is no official statement from the state government yet on the President’s visit, it was gathered that Jonathan is expected to grace Suswam’s golden jubilee birthday celebration on Saturday as well as inaugurate a few projects.

we observed that the potholes, stagnated waters as well as dirt along the major highways in Makurdi metropolis, are being hurriedly evacuated.

A resident of Makurdi, who simply identified himself as Terver, said the capital city was now beginning to wear a new look.

He said, “We pray that President Jonathan should always propose visits to the state so that our environment will witness positive changes.”

However, the state Secretary of Nigeria Labour Congress, Emmanuel Jumpa, said the state NLC was not aware of the planned protest
